Colours

You can see this painting on the west wall of the Lingen Davies Centre in Shrewsbury.  My darling O/H is not too well at the moment and like so may other people,  we're having to make a few more trips there.  Don't know who the artist is, but the picture's been donated.  The position of the fishing boats, vibrancy of the colours of each one, the myriad of shades and splashes on the beach and in the water. I don't even pretend to know anything about art but I really love looking at this one. My skew whiff camera doesn't do it justice - sorry.

Camellias are out in bloom all around the hospital grounds. The colours are gorgeous. Mine at home, are just starting to come into bud.

Some wool samples in a glass display case in Hereford Cathedral

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do in the long Winter nights. I bought a heap of wool, myself, from 'Coedy' and have started knitting a multi coloured throw. Got it all wrapped round me while I'm typing this.

It's freezing outside. Imagine a world without colour. Wouldn't it be horrible.

  2. I hope HO gets over soon! I love hot colours very much. Knitting is a perfect craft for winter days. I deleted by mistake. Sorry.

  3. Hope your OH will soon be better, Molly, this must be a worrying time for you. I agree, without colour things would be very grim. I just bought a second hand throw and I am so enjoying the purple and turquoise, orange, pink, green etc I was thinking the very same thing yesterday.

  4. Thank you Kath for your comment. I've really enjoyed knitting this one. It was just a scarf pattern and I joined all the colours together - got a bit more to do at it, but really chuffed with the result.

  9. Nice pictures, Moll, but all the videos to the right mean that it takes an age to properly download your posts. Just an observation.

    1. Tom, thank you for telling me - it drives me bonkers when somebody's blog takes an age to load so I've done a bit of spring cleaning on this one.

  11. The painting is by Van Gogh, or I should say the original is! I love that Camellia; I could use some colour in the garden at the moment, I didn't know they flowered so early..

  13. I'm sorry to hear that OH is not well and hope his health improves soon. I see you're using the wool you bought recently to make a throw. I like the pattern and the colours. I've taken up knitting again myself, but only making a simple scarf. It must be something to do with wanting to create something during these Winter evenings that's not too difficult and it's quite relaxing. Your throw must be very cozy.

  14. A world without colour would be hard to bear.
Thank goodness for people with brightly coloured wool and the throws they make! Yours looks lovely. Warm too.

  15. Hi Molly!
your throws look very colorful and I think the life without colors would be as white and black old movie, boring.
    Hope OH is better now.

  16. yes, it would be a horrible world without colour particularly if one of you has to visit the Lingen Davies Centre. I was there myself a few years ago.

I hope there is a good outcome, as there was for me.

    Good luck and best wishes.

  17. Dear Molly

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I felt that I should reassure you that I'm OK. I have been through a rocky patch towards the end of last year and have had to make some difficult decisions but things are looking up for me now and I'm feeling more positive with each day. I'm working on some new writing and a new blog too, which I may make public, I'm not sure yet. I value our blog friendship and will of course let you know if I decide to go public.

    With love and best wishes.

  19. So sorry to hear that your OH needs more trips to the Lingen Davies Centre, Molly. They are lovely there, but one would rather not need their attention. I hope he improves soon.

I too love colour and your throw is beautifully colourful and cheery and I bet it keeps you warm.
