When we were coming home today, this little red tractor was parked near Goblin Lane alongside the black wooden railway bridge. For decades, it stood, one wheel missing and up to its axle in farm yard slurry.
The chassis was rotting and the big end probably gone.
There's a little bit of rust around the exhaust and the one headlight's got a bit of a droop, But little Massey Fergy's looking good, don't you think?
She's got life left in her yet.
ReplyDeleteI think she's scrubbed up quite well :)
DeleteThere's a children's book there Molly "Tales of a little red tractor"!
ReplyDeleteKath, you're putting ideas in my head - hmmmm.
Deletewow! Nice rescue! we've got one sitting in the backyard, covered with a tarp, that could use some of that lovin'. Stevie @ ruffledfeathersandspilledmilk.com
ReplyDeleteHello Stevie. Thank you so much for visiting my site. Love your blog posts too. Your New Year's Day did have the edge on mine - happy anniversary.
DeleteWell done. Probably a deal more than a winter's worth of work.
ReplyDeleteA couple of gram at least :)
DeleteAw, sweet. I'd better not show this to my DH, Molly. He hasn't forgiven me yet for having to sell his old tractor (not a Fergie) years ago when we moved to the vicarage and still makes noises about getting another one. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have a 1961 International which is still working and still a little gem - you can't beat the little tractors.
DeleteGoblin Lane - wonderful and I love the Fergie.
ReplyDeleteBeen up Goblin Lane many times - never came across any goblins though (yet)
DeleteShe is one fine tractor now. A facelift was all she needed.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a bit of TLC and a lick of paint can do xx
DeleteShouldn't she be GREY?
ReplyDeleteNo - it's the right colour - Massey Ferguson 1965 3 cylinder diesel (informed by O/H)
DeleteNow back in use this old tractor must be a cheery sight.
ReplyDeleteWe passed it again today. I think it's brilliant that it's been brought back into service.
DeleteWhat a cheery little tractor - I love the droopy 'eye'.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do too.
DeleteShould it not have been fitted with a protective roll bar incase it overturns ?
ReplyDeleteYour right - it should
DeleteIt's amazing how things like that can be restored - I wouldn't know where to start!
ReplyDeleteLBM - you can turn an old T shirt into an amazing designer top - I would be more than happy to be half as creative as you are.
Deletethat's a lovely restoration. looks good as new.
ReplyDeletewishing you and yours a healthful, happy new year Molly. take good care now.
