On This Day, 12th of the 12th of the 12th

Just got back and been starting to catch up with my fav blog posts Delores over at 'Feathered Nest' mentioned today's date. Actually I did read a bit about it in today's paper and took a few pictures of my day today starting at 12 minutes past 12 and through the day.  Everything was white over this morning. By 12 o clock the freezing fog was just starting to lift. so this is how my day was :-

This pic was taken at 12 minutes past 12

And this one

The trees and the hedges along the main road were all covered in hoar frost. In the half light they looked really beautiful.

Because one of the scanners in the Radiotherapy Dept was being serviced, the appointments for this afternoon had been moved to the evening. This meant O/H's appointment was put back until 6.35pm. We started out at 3.30pm in order to travel in the light. Fog and ice are not a good combination although it had started to lift quite a bit  by then.

And then, tucked in the corner of L2 waiting room, someone had knitted a nativity scene. These crafty people are so clever in what they can do. Meeting up with the other patients being treated too was good. You do seem to form a camaraderie between you as you meet up each day  sitting around in the waiting room. The support from each other is amazing.
When we came out, ice was glistening on the pavements but the fog had completely gone. Yes, for me, it is starting to feel like Christmas after all.

    1. I'm wondering whether one of the former patients knitted them - obviously done with love

  2. I love your new header photo Molly. And the hoar frost photos too. Other than chilly temps we've no indications here that it's two weeks from Christmas. All the storms coming through have brought rain. I really like those knitted Wise Men. Hope O/H is doing alright. happy week to you Molly.

  3. I can picture you running around at 12:12 clicking and clicking your camera. You got some beautiful shots in 60 seconds.

That had to be an anxious ride you had getting to the hospital. I have become such a coward about driving in bad weather, especially at night. However, when you have to do it, you have to do it.

    1. It's freezing fog again today - but then it's just the same for everybody else. Just so glad when we get there and get home safely. Hope you are able to get out and about in your weather.

  4. The knitted characters 10/10. The manger 2/10. I like the sheep best!

    1. I think the manger was knocked up by some hard pressed, overworked nurses so we'll bear with them on that one. Hope your weather's OK

  5. Lots of frost around here, too! The knitted figures are a fabulous treasure. Time now to get ready to venture out into the cold -- brrrr!

  6. Recording moments in a day with pics is such a good idea.
It has also reminded me to back up my blog posts, although it will be the words rather than the photos that can be copied.
Have a good day today, Molly.

  7. Super photos as always, Molly. I love the knitted crib scene - very like the one our daughter knitted for her church.

Is the radiotherapy at the RSH? If so, it takes me back to my 5 weeks of daily journeys for treatment nearly 14 years ago now and yes, there was a real camaraderie.

  8. Yes it is. It's now called the Bernard Lingdon Centre and has all been beautifully refurbished. A good proportion of the money has been donated by fund raising and well wishers which is wonderful. My O/H is fortunate in that he has not experienced too many uncomfortable side effects as yet which is brilliant. The actual journey is a bit more challenging especially in the wintertime - you had such a long way to travel every day when you came 14 years ago. Hope everything is well with you. I think it's so amazing what medical technology can do

    1. Tell me about it, Molly! An 88 mile round trip for 25 days, but at least it was in the spring. It's amazing my old car didn't give up the ghost. :-) I'm glad your OH is coping well with the treatment.

  9. Molly - lovely photos - that does look cold - we seem to be finally starting summer - next three days forecast 27/28 degrees Celsius.

Glad the treatment is going well.

  10. I love hoar frost, it's so pretty. I haven't seen any in over 40 years.
The knitted nativity scenes are really sweet.

  11. I'm with Cro Molly...love the sheep. So good to hear that O/H is coping with the treatments well. Rudy is slowly regaining some strength. I've bought him a gym membership for Christmas...they say exercise is the best thing for the radiation-born tiredness, so we will begin gently in the New Year.
