Learning As I Go

In August 2011 I posted my first video on You Tube.  I was outside in the garden, when I noticed a minute little snail climbing up an aquilegia leaf. For those of us with too much time on our hands, I grabbed my camera and just watched him go. He was amazing. The wind blew, but he kept going. One strong gust and he fell off. Well let's face it, not everyone lives happily ever after do they?
I have been playing around tonight, doing a bit of editing and putting it to music. I fell off a few times, but it's getting there. Not only that, I've done a bit of online shopping and SORNED (Statutory Off Road Notification) the old banger parked up the yard without having to move out of my comfortable chair.
Loving all this technology. It's good here ...... I want to learn more.

  2. Online shopping is dangerous and I can get lost in editing. I do not ever do music though. Good for you.

    1. I've been a bit tentative up to now - but so chuffed when the goods arrived in four days - and just what I wanted

  3. Shopping is good. Filing on line is good. So much goodness, and barely fattening.

    1. It's legal, it's moral and it doesn't make you fat though it can make you a bit hard up when the bill comes - but for all that I am beginning to think internet shopping is brilliant. Yay.

    1. Better. I'm not one of life's big spenders but on line shopping's certainly got the edge on jostling through the crowds trying to find the right thing.

    1. I'm so glad that other blip on your site has been sorted - it's worrying when something like that happens, especially when it's not your fault.

  8. Thanks so much for your comment Bernard - I wanted to send you an email, looked on your site but couldn't find one - so will write it all here instead. Like I put on that Silent Night video I posted - I took it at our Christmas Fair this year. The children were singing carols accompanied by their teacher on the piano. I enjoyed it so much I took a video (from way back in the church)Posted it on You Tube. A couple of days later when I looked on my You Tube dashboard there was a little blue link by the side of it which said something about the Benjamin Brittain Society and it may be copyright ??? I really didn't understand what they were talking about.
I didn't want to tread on anyone's toes so took it down. Felt quite sad about it because I would have loved to share it with my blogging friends as this year's Christmas card. I am not very computer savvy and learning as I go. You are brilliant on the computer and I wondered if you knew anything about this copyright thing on You Tube and what it's about. The carol is from the year dot and I certainly hadn't filched anyone else's work nor would I. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

    1. My thoughts on this ‘copyright’ message are - “bollocks!” (excuse my French).
I get this message all the time from YouTube and so do my fellow organ grinders. One friend has closed his account completely in disgust. I just ignore it. It is basically there to stop people posting up recorded music from CD’s/DVD’s that have a legitimate copyright. People who sing or play from music have every right to freely sing and play a tune to their hearts content, and as many times as they like. Selling their recording of it may however be a different ‘kettle of fish’. YT is an computer driven system and they have in place a bit of software that looks up tune titles. If you put ‘Silent Night’ into your title, the system suspects you have posted up a CD version, of someone else’s recording. You will notice it says “it MAY be copyright”. It doesn’t know. The secret is not to mention any song titles. I still have all mine up and running - so I say upload again with a different title.
Like you I don’t publish my email address (except to friends.) If you email my blogpal Kath, at Hillside House see - http://www.blogger.com/profile/04003521059890699861
I’m sure she will let you in on my secret.
      Take care, keep warm….B xx

  9. The video was so sweet, Molly and I'm in awe that you actually edited it and put it on YouTube!

Online shopping is absolutely it as far as I'm concerned, either ordering online for delivery at home, or reserving online for collection from the shop. It saves so much time and, I think, money, as I have time to think and compare and not get swept away. :-)

  10. I think our generation is so privileged to have started out in the Black and White 3 channel TV era right through to all the amazing technology on hand now. Internet shopping is such a boon, I agree
