The Silence of the Night

It's over a year ago since we had a power cut. A storm brought the power lines down for practically the whole weekend.

We're better prepared now  (I think) than we were then. If you can ever be?

Got the survival gear in hand.

It's not 'if' but 'when'
And it certainly gives you a different perspective on how to entertain yourself.
Thank you God for electricity.

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 Let there be light.

  2. We always have candles and a lamp that runs from a spare car battery, Molly and thank goodness our hob is calor gas, so we can heat water and make food. You look well prepared.

  6. Last night I cooked with wood, heated with wood, and lit the sitting room with candles. The only thing we lacked was the 'power cut'.

  7. We used to have regular power cute at Railway cottage, so that we prepared a "power cut box" including an "old fashioned" plug in phone. It lays cobweb strewn under he stairs here at Hillside. Seems being nearer the town assures a more regular supply.
Looks like you're ready for the worst Molly.

  8. "...don't know what you've got 'til it's gone'...as Joni would say. I was marveling yesterday at how many times I just turn on the tap and water runs. All those people in New York who had Sandy drop by and put and end to that for now. It pays to take stock, appreciate and plan. Glad you are prepared Molly.

  10. As horrible as the storm Sandy was, things could have been worse if we were not warned and people were not prepared. With the changing weather patterns, we can probably look forward to more of the same. We have talked about getting a generator but not sure we will. They are very expensive.
