The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less travelled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Robert Frost
I love this poem by Robert Frost. I travelled this road today. The ice and the frost (oops! sorry Robert) were about with a vengeance this morning, but later on when the sun came out it was just breath taking.
It's my hundredth post today.
Happy day |
Congratulations on the 100th post! May you have many more shadow-chasing days ahead!

Happy 100th Molly...keeping you and yours in my heart.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on number 100....and this is my very favourite poem. Your photos are just lovely and make a perfect match for it.
ReplyDeleteYou did take a rather frosty road this morning, and one Frost probably would have approved. I like the stream still moving along with you.
ReplyDeleteI was out to enjoy our glorious weather too but everywhere in the woods round here the tree fellers are at work and everywhere the mud is knee deep.
ReplyDeleteLovely images to go with the poem, and congratulations on your 100th post!

Congratulations on your 100th post - hope all is going well with you trips to Shrewsbury.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should all take 'the one less travelled'. Well done on reaching ONE HUNDRED. Cro xx
ReplyDeleteWell done on reaching 100. I love the look of frost on grass and trees, we don't often get frosty weather here in Adelaide, South Australia.

ReplyDeleteI wrote it all wrong the first time, so I'm trying it again. I love your frosty photos, and I love The Road Not Taken, it's one of my favorite poems. Perfect for this time of year. congratulations on your 100th post Molly. be careful walking and driving now.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 100th post! A Robert Frost poem and lovely photographs are a good way to mark the occasion. A beautiful header, too. I hope that it's a little warmer where you are. We've had a mixed week here. Wild weather then yesterday was surprisingly dry and mild. Now we're back to dull and cloudy with the threat of rain again tonight. Hope you're having a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteHey Molly, congrats on 100 posts......
ReplyDeleteI have a Robert Frost book of poems and stories on my bedside table and love his work.
