Fair Exchange

I've been teaching my grand daughter how to slice runner beans and she has been teaching me how to edit photos and create collages, so for the rest of her holiday with us, she's doing the cooking and I'm spending lots of time playing about on the computer. Good what !!

  7. Sounds fair Molly, although you've missed a trick by not showing her how to weed!

  8. 'Top and Tail' runner beans. :)
My Dad used to grow them a bit too large and Mom taught us how to 'de-string' them. We also had one of those 'bean-slicers' that you feed with one hand and turn with the other. You still see them at car boots. When Dad grew too many, we would help Mom to slice them and pack them into Kilner jars with layers of salt which came in a large block and had to be grated down. An awful job. The beans kept OK but as you can imagine were very salty. Thank heavens for freezers! :)

  11. Bernard, I used to "Salt down" beans too. when we lived in Bournemouth in England.Your "Exchange Rate" looks really fare to me Olive. I have always found that when someone teaches you how to do something you never ever forget them for it, or the occasion. Love the photo of the sheep this week. Still pruning shrubs madly, and planting small blocks of annuals for colour in the early spring. oxoxo
