O/H's tractor needs a new glass fuel bowl gasket to make it go again. We tried all over Welshpool today to get one. We tried Teme Valley Tractors. We tried John Deere Tractors. We tried Phil's Tool Hire
Then we turned up the mountain. There's a man who lives up there who's sure to have one.
We went further up the mountain past a place called Little Hope. And then we finally arrived -
'Do you have a glass fuel bowl gasket for an International B275 tractor or would you be able to get me one?'
NOT A HOPE IN HELL.
There's always the internet. Oh, wait. That's where we are now.
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
Thanks Joanne. We did actually find what he wanted on the internet last night and I've put the order in - should arrive by the middle of next week (hopefully)
DeleteOh no....like Joanne says try Ebay or something. If you find something this side of the pond (canada) and I can assist in getting it to you let me know.
ReplyDeleteChania , thanks so much. We found what he wanted on line. Internet shopping is great.
DeleteNext time let your fingers do the walking through the yellow pages lol.
ReplyDeleteThe Yellow Pages did the walking right into the Recycle Bin. What a right load of old rubbish it is over here.
DeleteWe have a village called hope here...it's twinned with caergwrle
ReplyDeleteThere is a local saying
LIVE IN HOPE
DIE IN CAERGWRLE
Love it.
DeleteOMG Molly, that last line was so funny, I blew a gasket laughing.
ReplyDeleteArleen glad you enjoyed it - I think we both share the same zany humour
DeleteThis may sound stupid, but can't he make one? I made a gasket for my mower (and completely buggered it).
ReplyDeleteWell he did buy a whole roll of gasket paper from the steam rally, but I think it might end up like yours did - we ordered one off the internet.
DeleteAs the Beatles nearly said it, "With a little 'hope' from your friends"... Good luck in your quest...
ReplyDeleteI love my friends
DeleteI think Cro has a point I am sure OH could turn his hand and improvise - we can but Hope xx
ReplyDeleteI've discovered internet shopping - empty me bank account with one click - brilliant
DeleteCut one of his own?
ReplyDeleteAhem - perhaps not.
DeleteThat last line made me laugh out loud in my office :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comment, Keith - that's all I wanted it to do
DeleteOh dear. What a difficult time you had. My dad collected old tractors. Had them scattered about his yard like I have flowers. Most of them worked too. But I know you are a working farm and need the part!
ReplyDeleteWe've got lots of O/H's entranklements scattered about our yard too. It's a man thing (sigh)
DeleteI have driven past that signpost often enough (or a similar one to the same place) but I’ve never gone to Hope. Should I? Or might I blow gasket?
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty up there, like Valley' End - I think you should be OK if you don't meet anything coming in the opposite direction
ReplyDeleteHave you enquired or visited this site:
ReplyDeletewww.agrilineproducts.com/.../international_b275.html
Heron, thanks for the link - it looks a really good site.
ReplyDeleteHope you have found one by now!
ReplyDeleteHello Annie. Thank you for visiting my site. Yes we did and it was all going together hunky dory. Our little tractor was getting very hard to steer. We found a site on line and bought a new steering box as well. When O/H came to have it fitted, the fuel tank would not fit over it properly so we're having to have another think on that one.
DeleteOh the joys of keeping old machinery on the road. I've come late to this, so I do hope everything is working as it should now, Molly.
