Busking up Pride Hill

It was a brilliant day yesterday. I went into Shrewsbury, like a lot of other folks, just enjoying the sunshine.

A Farmer's Market is held on the first Saturday in the month, though this was the first I'd heard of it until somebody said.

As you turn the corner from Wyle Cop, all the buskers were out up Pride Hill. One I really liked was a hippie type playing one of those yodell-y long horn things. I should have asked him what it was. Anyway, I plucked up courage and asked him if I could photograph him for my blog. He said I could and he put on a performance just for me and that wonderful smile at the end. He made my day and I think maybe I made his too, with my weird accent and raucous laugh - it was good.

  1. Is that a (I'm sure I'm going to spell this wrong) diggeridoo?

  3. Like Delores, I think it is a didgeridoo also. It certainly doesn't play the sweetest sound, but it is different nd interesting, Molly.

I love farmer's markets, especially in late July and early August. We get the best fruit and veggies then.

  5. Good to see that Robert Clive is still surveying matters at the square. I've never seen it that busy!

  6. The sunshine is bringing everyone out and good for local businesses as well as a good opportunity to browse and buy local produce.
Thanks for the clip of the man playing the didgeridoo. It certainly woke me up as I sipped my morning cup of tea! Have a good week, Molly!

  7. Your weather is obviously as glorious as ours in the far north, Molly. Doesn't Shrewsbury look good in the sunshine? A farmer's market is a super idea and no-one will nod off if that busker has a regular pitch. :-)

  8. Thanks so much for all your comments. I had a feeling it was a digeridoo. What amused me was the way in which people were walking up the hill in time to the 'music',

  14. Hi Molly. Found your blog by accident. I did enjoy reading it. I am a farmer's wife and live in the Yorkshire Dales, but for many years I lived and worked on the edge of Wolverhampton, so Welshpool and Shrewsbury were places we often went to. I must say that looks a splendid farmers' market. We have one here in our nearest market town, but it has never really taken off. Probably because most folk have a veggie garden that rules out any vegetable/fruit stalls.
Also we have a fantastic 'ordinary' market every Friday which sells such a huge variety.
Nice to read your blog. Hope you will pop over and see me sometime.

  16. I hope you rewarded him royally for the personal performance.

    What weird accent?

PS: it took me ages to find my way to the actual blog. Heavens, will I have to instal all this too? No idea how.
