The Colour Red

The last time we went food shopping, O/H put this poinsettia in my shopping trolley just for me. I love it. The bright red leaves come out a bit more every day. Red is my favourite colour.

    1. Hello Bonnie. Thank you for your comment. Yes I like them too especially when the weather outside is so cold, grey and damp. This one seems to be getting better and better.

  3. What a lovely colour that is Molly - when I came to new Zealand I was surprised to find that poinsettias grow as shrubs outside here.

    1. With the right conditions they will last until another year. They need 12 hours of darkness from October onwards (here) to produce the bright red leaves apparently. Do they produce those bright leaves when grown outside?

  4. I love the Poinsettia from the end of November till January 2nd. Then their time is up. That red color is the best, Molly, and almost puts me in the Christmas mood.

    1. It's a photo of 'The Goblin Lane,' We went for a walk up there a few days ago. O/H is diabetic and in trouble with his blood sugar so we try to go on these walks when we can

    1. Hello Annie, thank you. It's a walkway quite close to where we live. You go up the single track tarmac road, head right and then come to this beautiful lane along by the stream. It brings you out on to another single track road which leads back home so you actually walk around in a circle.

  9. It's gorgeous, I think I'll get one to plant in my garden, I don't think there is one anywhere in the whole complex.

  11. "O/H put this poinsettia in my shopping trolley just for me."
Forgive me for 'having a bit of a chuckle' here, but I read that as 'he' put it in 'my' shopping trolley. :O
Good old O/H - so you ended up buying it for yourself.
I'm sure his heart is in the right place and as they say "It's the thought that counts".

Best things in life are free - but me, being single, seem to miss out on most of them. :(

  13. Bernard your last sentence made me feel a bit sad - 'You've got a friend' as the song says - in fact there's blooming hundreds of us. Big hug from me x

  14. Every year for Christmas I buy myself a poinsettia. I know it’ll be gone by early January, but it does brighten up the house.

    Nice chap, your old man.
