One Sad Christmas

Scotch on the Rocks

One Christmas when we lived at our other house at Bayston Hill, Other Half walked all the way down to the pub. Walked all the way back with a bottle of whisky. Got to our front door and then dropped it.

  1. Commiserations. Every year in Germany, they interrupt the festive TV broadcasts by saying, "And now spare a thought for all those who have no homes to go to this Christmas", then a live camera shows pictures of people having the time of their life in a bar somewhere, laughing and cheering the viewers at home.

My mate who was forced to spend his Christmases at home with his elderly parents would look with envy at these people without families, until he was old enough to join them.

At least it was only F.G., and not a single malt.

    1. Families are not always biologically related to be special. I hope your mate found a family to spend Christmas with.

  2. What a bummer!

    Love your holly berry header.

I see you have two days of sun coming up. Enjoy.

    1. Froze hard in the night, but we managed to get out OK. 4 down and then another 33 hospital visits to go. I picked some of the holly to decorate the house - the birds have polished off the rest of the berries outside

    1. It was, yes. We were living at our first home a few years after we were married. The idea was to keep a bottle in, to offer a tot to people who called by to see us. Have a good week xx

  6. Ouch. But had it been a bottle of Pétrus, it would have been a double-ouch!

  7. I've no idea what FG is, but dropping it anywhere after having paid for it would be sad. All the way home though, borders on tragic.

  8. Oh! An easy thing to do, though. I once bought a bottle of cough syrup when in Italy which was very expensive (as medecine tends to be) and then promptly put the bag down heavily and smashed it on the marble floor. Explanations had to be made to buy another without a prescription. As for wine bottles etc., I have one of those heavy canvas shopping bags with compartments as they are very handy for transporting such items. Hope your week is going well, Molly!
