Caught In The Shadows

Why is it that when you want to take a proper photo of a shadow, your own shadow gets in the way. Like having a picture  with your own thumbprint stuck in the corner. A  MeMe.
It was foggy this morning. I needed to go into Shrewsbury to pick up my grand daughter for her half-term hol. By about  1pm the fog had lifted and the sun came out. The colours of the trees along the river Severn were beautiful.  I'm one of those people who hates shopping - especially on a Sunday, so to pass the time until her train arrived, I took some photos across the Frankwell Foot Bridge leading down to the municipal car park and soaked up the sunshine.

    1. Amy - thank you - it was foggy here in the morning and it was just a bit of an aim and shoot pic when the sun finally came out.

  5. a splendid new header photo!!! When I read your posts I feel as though I've crawled into a delicious novel - with wonderful names like Shrewsbury and Welshpool. It's a book I cannot put down. Excellent shadow shot too Molly. happy week to you.

    1. Becky - you've just put an idea in my head - like why are places called by those names. In Shrewsbury there is a 'Fish Street' and 'Butchers Row' and 'Dogpole' and a naughty one, as well as 'Frankwell' - did Frank actually own a well there? Have you got any strange sounding streets near you?

  8. Were you not tempted to 'crop'? I know it's cheating, but occasionally it can work wonders.

  9. I love shadow shots, with or without people. does your camera have a zoom function? Try this....aim at a portion of the shadow past your own shadow, then zoom in to get the shot you want.

  11. Some good tips from fellow bloggers, but the shot is charming with your shadow. Yes, have a good time with your granddaughter. Your half term is very early - ours isn't until next week when we shall be looking after our two grandchildren.
